PRICE- Pamela Susan Reaves, born on May 18, 1950 in Gainesville, Florida, peacefully passed away at home on August 11, 2023 after a brief but difficult struggle with ALS. She was the oldest of five children born to David Park Reaves II and Jewell Doris McCarn, and two half-siblings.

Pam loved to be outdoors all her life and stayed active up until the end. She received a black belt for taekwondo and would later open a scuba diving shop in Virginia where she taught others to dive. Much of her life was spent gardening, rock hounding, and hiking. One of her favorite places was Nine Mile Canyon, although anywhere with red rocks was also loved. She also enjoyed creating art through weaving, painting, and pottery.

Pam worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for the state of Utah after getting her Masters from USU and would later work for the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes in Wyoming. She would later move back to Utah to be closer to family. When she was older, Pam joined her eldest child in Price, UT.

Pam was an avid supporter of education and history. She volunteered at the USUE Prehistoric Museum and CVAS (Castle Valley Archaeological Society). She had always had an interest in archaeology, but it really shined the brightest during her time in Price.

Pam was a caring soul, she welcomed all into her family and unofficially adopted her step-daughter and a foster-daughter as her own.

She is survived by her children, Riley Reaves, Diana “Dee” Rodriguez, and Calista Spooner; her sister, Gael Shults; brother, David Reaves III; brother, Giles Reaves; sister, Jacqui Lawson; sister, Trish Muschar; and brother, John Landsman; and her dog, Alfie.

Pam was preceded in death by her father, David Park Reaves II; her mother, Jewell Doris McCarn; her step-father, Charles Lavers; and her grandparents.

Pam will be remembered for her fiery spirit, open heart, and creative soul. It was her wish to donate her body for ALS research upon her death to help increase our understanding of this terrible disease, and be cremated at a later date.

More information about a wake to follow.
